Answer:

See below.

Explanation:

The atoms of Y are occupying the lattice points of simple Cubic Closed Packed lattice.

Therefore, atoms of Y = ( 1 / 8 ) * 8 + ( 1 / 2 ) * 6 = 4

X has occupied 2/3 of octahedral voids.

The number of tetrahedral voids = 2 * 4 = 8

Number of X atoms = 2/3 * 8 = 16 / 3

Formula of compound : X4Y3

Answer:

a. X4Y3

Explanation:  number of atoms present in ccp lattice = 4 = number of atoms in y

number of tetrahedral voids in ccp lattice = 8

they given x occupied 2/3 of tetrahedral voids = 2 x 8 /3  = 16 / 3 = number of atoms in x

so the formula is = X 16/3 Y 4

multiply both numerator and denominator of 4 with 3 then it becomes 12/3

then the denominators of x and y will cancel

then the final formula would become X16 Y12

by simplyfying we get    the formula as X4Y3
