assuming there are only two candidates in the election(A &B)

X = total no. Of votes

the candidate in talk here is A he gets 58% of votes polled

so A votes=58x/100

similarly rest of the candidates lets give the name B

so B=42x/100

now the margin of victory is 18336

hence A-B=18336

that is 58x/100–42x/100=18336

so x=114600

vote of A=66468

B=48132

margin A-B=18336

final answer total votes would be 114600
