Let the maximum marks be x

ATQ, He needs to get 36% of x to get passed. Which means,

36/ 100 * x = PASS ----------- (1)

Also, He gets 145 marks. Had it been 35 more, he would've passed. So let's put the condition into an equation. We get,

145 + 35 = PASS ------------ (2)

Equating both the equations, we get:

36/100 x = 145 + 35
36/100 x = 180
x= (180 * 100) /36
x= 18000/36
x= 500

So the maximum marks were 500

Answer:

133+85=198

36%=198

100%=?
