Answer:

3/4

Step-by-step explanation:

the total possibilities are 4 . They are

(girl,girl)

(boy,girl)

(girl,boy)

(boy,boy)

the possibilities which have atleast one girl are 3

therefore, probability is 3/4.

Concept

Probability is an mathematics branch where we deal with finding the occurence of an random event .

P(A) = No of favourable outcomes to A / Total no of possible outcomes

Given

A Family with 2 children

Find

Probability of having atleast one girl

Solution

So the total possibilities are 4 i.e { GG, GB, BG, BB}

where  G represents Girl and B represents Boy.

No of favourable outcomes = {GG, GB, BG} = 3

Total outcomes =  { GG, GB, BG, BB} = 4

Probability of finding atleast one girl is

P (atleast one girl) = No of favourable outcomes  / Total no of possible outcomes

P (atleast one girl) =  3/4

In an family of 2 children, probability of having atleast one girl is 3/4.
