Answer:

Required fraction = 3/5

Step-by-step explanation:

given that,

in a fraction twice the numerator is 2 more than the denominator

let the fraction be x/y

here,

numerator = x

denominator = y

according to the question,

2x = y + 3

2x - y = 3

2x = 3 + y

x = (3 + y) /2. ....(1)

also,

given that,

if 3 is added to the numerator and denominator the new fraction is 2 upon 3

here,

we have,

(x + 3)/(y + 3) = 2/3

by cross multiplication we get,

3x + 9 = 2y + 6

3x - 2y = 6 - 9

3x - 2y = -3. .....(2)

from (1)

we have,

x = (3 + y) /2

putting the value of x on (2)

3x - 2y = -3

3(3 + y)/2 - 2y = -3

(9 + 3y)/2 - 2y = -3

(9 + 3y - 4y) /2 = -3

-y + 9 = -6

-y = -6 - 9

-y = -15

y = 15

from (1)

x = (3 + y)/2

putting the value of y on (1)

x = (3 + 15)/2

x = 18/2

x = 9

y = 15

fraction = x/y

so,

Required Fraction = 9/15

= 3/5
