And number of flowers = 3

Let number of bees = x

Let number of flowers = y

According to question if one bee sits on each flower then one bee left.

y = x - 1.........(i)

And if two bee sits on each flower then one flower left.

x/2 = y + 1

y = 1 + x/2.........(ii)

From equation (i) and (ii)

x - 1 = 1 + x/2

x/2 =2

∴ x = 4

Putting value of x in equation (i)

y = 4 - 1

y = 3

∴Number of bees = 4

And number of flowers = 3
