GIVEN

In a group of 20 males and 15 females, 12 males and 8 females are service holders.

TO FIND

What is the probability that a person selected at random from the group is a service holder given that the selected person is a male ?

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows;

We know that,

probability = Favourable outcomes/total number of outcomes

Total number of people = 20 + 15 = 35

Number of male service holder = 12

Probability that a person selected at random from the group is a service holder given that the selected person is a male = 12/35

Hence, The answer is 12/35
