GIVEN

  • In a group of people the ratio of blondes to brunettes to redheads is 3:7:1.
  • There are 56 brunettes.

To Find

No of people in the group.

SOLUTION

Let the the blondes be 3x, brunettes be 7x and redheads be x.

No of brunettes is 56.

According to the question,

\large\implies{\sf{7x=56}}

\large\implies{\sf{x=\dfrac{56}{7}}}

\large\implies{\sf{x=\dfrac{\cancel{56}}{\cancel{7}}}}

\large\therefore\boxed{\bf{x=8}}

Now,

  1. 3x = 3 × 8 = 24.
  2. 7x = 7 × 8 = 56.
  3. 1x = 1 × 8 = 8.

Total no of people = 24 + 56 + 8 = 88.

Total no of people in the group is 88.
