in a house 4 electric bulbs of 60w are lighted for 2 hours and 2 bulbs of 100 w are lighted for 4 hours everyday. calculate the energy consumed in the house for 30 days

Power of electric bulbs = 60W, 100W

No of 60W bulb = 4 => Total power consumed by 60W bulbs = 60*4 = 240W or 0.24 kW

Time for which they are used each day = 2 hrs 

Therefore energy consumed by four 60W bulbs in 1 day = 0.24*2 = 0.48 kWh .............(i)

No of 100W bulbs = 2 => Total power consumed by 100W bulbs = 100*2 = 200W or 0.2 kW

Time for which they are used each day = 4hrs

Therefore energy consumed by two 100W bulbs in 1 day = 0.2*4 = 0.8kWh ..........(ii)

Therefore total energy consumed each day = (i) + (ii) = 0.48 + 0.8 = 1.28 kWh

Now energy consumed in 1 day = 1.28 kWh

Therefore, energy consumed in 30 days = 1.28 * 30 = 38.4 kWh
