In a house 4 tube lights of 4W each are used for 10hrs, 2 bulbs of 100W each are used for 4hrs daily. Calculate the energy consumption of that house in the month of August. (answer is 77.4kWh)​

Given :

In a house 4 tube lights of 4 W each are used for 10 hrs, 2 bulbs of 100 W each are used for 4 hrs daily .

To Find :

The energy consumption of that house in the month of August .

Solution :

We know , Energy is given by :

E=P.t

So , energy consumed by tube lights is :

E_1=4\times 4\times 10=160\ Wh=0.16\ kWh

Energy consumed by bulbs is :

E_2=2\times 100\times 4=800\ Wh=0.8\ kWh

Therefore , energy consumed in one day is :

\\ E=E_1+E_2\\E=0.16+0.8\ kWh\\E=0.96\ kWh

Energy consumption of that house in the month of August i.e in 31 days is :

E_T=31\times E\\\\E_T=31\times 0.96\\\\E_T=29.76\ kWh

Therefore ,  the energy consumption of that house in the month of August is 29.76 kWh .
