In a laboratory a bacterial culture develops itself once every 3 hours. If it's initial population is is 1,00,000, find its population after 12 hours. Also, calculate the percentage change in its population in an hour.

In this example, the bacteria divide every 20 minutes, and will therefore divide three times every hour, \sf\dfrac{60}{20}= 3

If the bacteria grow for six hours, each bacterium will divide 3 times per hour × 3 hours = 9 times.
