The athlete has covered 10.6m but any specific direction is not given It is the distance because direction is not given

007gaurav: can you pleas tell in brief
oziaskeivom123: although direction may not be given but logically is it possible to jump with out a clearly defined path of propagation? i think its displacement.
007gaurav: thnx
chandraharish: ya u r right but since its given in the question that the path covered by the athlete is 10.6m n the direction is not given
007gaurav: final answer is distance or displacement
chandraharish: u can go ahead with distance
sachin71: distance bcz when complit 10.6m then he back in original position

It can be displacement as well as distance because most of the paths in which athletes run for long jump are straight in direction so it can be displacement in this case but if the path is not straight or the atheletes run in zig zag motion then it is distance.

kooper: Plz mark it as best!!!............ : )
oziaskeivom123: good one ..but at the moment of jumping there is no way one could fly zig zag..
kooper: if the athlete runs in zig-zag motion not fly. I have not written fly.
