Solution:-

given by:-

(children forgot to bring their rulers n(R)= 20

(children forgot to bring their pencils n(P) = 17

children forgot to bring both ruler and pencil= n(R∩P) = 5

》= n(RUP) = n(R)+n(P) -n(R∩P)

》= n(RUP) = 20+17-5

》= n(RUP) = 32

32 students in the class

acourding to question:-

(i ) 32 - 17 = 15

15 students forgot to bring only pencil.

(ii) 32 - 20 = 12

12 students forgot to bring only ruler.
