In a meter bridge experiment the balance point Jis at a distance of 40cm from the end A, given the resistance Y in the right gap is 12Ω The bridge wire has a resistance of 2Ω /10cm and is of length 100cm.
(a) Determine the resistance X in the left gap
(b) if the meter bridge has 24V cell with internal resistance 2 Ω driving current through it then draw the equivalent Wheatstone network.

Explanation:

 \frac{x}{l} = \frac{y}{100 - l } \\ \frac{x}{40} = \frac{12}{100 - 40} \\ x = \frac{12 \times 40}{60} = 8ohm

b)
