In a mixture of 120 litres, the ratio of milk to the water is 3 :1. If the ratio, is to be 1:3, then the quantity of the water to be further added is

And water to be 1k.

Then, we have,

3k+1k = 120

4k = 120

k = 30

.'. milk = 3k = 3×30 = 90 L

Water = 1k = 30 L

Now, let the water added to the ratio to be x.

Then, we have,

90:30+x = 1:3

90/30+x = 1/3

270 = 30 + x

x = 270 - 30

= 240

Thus, the option (2) is your answer....
