Step-by-step explanation:

let the length of the model of the ship be x

therefore,

by using variation we get

9/x=12/28

=>12 x=28*9

=>x=28*9/12

=21

this means that the length of the model of the ship is 21 cm

Question :-

In a model ship, the mast is 9 cm high, while the mast of the actual ship is 12 m high. if the length of the ship is 28 m, how long is the model ship?

to find :-

how m how long is the model ship ?

solution:-

Let, the length of model ship = x

we have table for this ,

\begin{tabular}{I clc I cl clclcl}</p><p>\cline{1-3} length of actual ship (in m) &amp; 12&amp; 28\\</p><p>\cline{1-3} length of model ship (in cm)&amp; 9&amp;x \\</p><p>\cline{1-3} </p><p>\end{tabular}

\small\underline\textsf{\huge{[}\small{Note:- this is an direct proportion\huge{ ]}}}

\large\implies\tt \frac{12}{9}  =  \frac{28}{x}  \\

\large\implies\tt x + 12

\large\implies\tt28 \times 9

\large\implies\tt x =  \dfrac{\cancel{28 \times 9}}{\cancel{12}}  \\

\large\implies\boxed{\tt 21 cm}

the model ship is 21 cm long.
