Since the food was sufficient for the 1 lakh people for 60 days, the 1 lakh people have consumed 50% of the food for the first 30 days. But given that the camp was remained with 60 thousand people after 30 days.

Mathematically saying,

  • if the no. of people for consuming food is constant, then the amount of food is directly proportional to the time taken for consumption.

  • if the amount of food is constant, the no. of people consuming the food is inversely proportional to the no. of days or time required for the consumption.

No. of days required for 1 lakh people to consume 100% of food = 60 days

Amount of food consumed by the 1 lakh people in first 30 days = 50% of the total amount.

Also, no. of days required for 1 lakh people to consume the remaining 50% of food = 30 days.

No. of days required for 1 person to consume 50% of food = 30 × 1 lakh = 30 lakh days

Then, no. of days required for the remaining 60 thousand people to consume 50% of food = 30 lakh / 60 thousand = 50 days. \quad
