We have,

Area of parallelogram = Base * Height

 \therefore \sf \: ar( {ll}^{gm}  \: ABCD) = AB \times DM = (10 \times 7)   {cm}^{2} -  - (1)  \\  \\  \sf \: ar( {ll}^{gm}  \: ABCD) = AD \times BN = (AD \times 8) \:  {cm}^{2}  -  - (2)

From (1) and (2), we have

 \sf \: 10 \times 7 = ad \times 8 \\  \\  \implies \sf \: AD =  \frac{10 \times 7}{8}  \: cm \implies \: AD =  \dfrac{35}{4}  \: cm \\  \\  \sf = 8.75 \: cm
