In an isosceles triangle the base angles are equal and the vertex angle is 80 degree.find the measure of the base angles.

Solution:

Let us assume that the base angles of the Isosceles triangle be Xo.

Since both the base angles are equal and also we know that sum of all three angles of a triangle is equal to 180o, so the equation we get is:

2X + 80 = 180

2X = 180 - 80 = 100

X = 100/2 = 50°

Ans: Base angles are equal to 50o.
