Assumption :-

Let the school going children be x

That of not-school going children be y

According To Question :-

=> x : y = 2 : 5

If School-going children increased by 20%

=> x + 20% of x = 37,500

=> x + 20% of x = 37,500=> x + x / 5 = 37,500

=> x + 20% of x = 37,500=> x + x / 5 = 37,500=> 5x + x = 1,87,500

=> x + 20% of x = 37,500=> x + x / 5 = 37,500=> 5x + x = 1,87,500=> 6x = 1,87,500

=> x + 20% of x = 37,500=> x + x / 5 = 37,500=> 5x + x = 1,87,500=> 6x = 1,87,500=> x = 31,250

Ratio :-

=> 31,250 / y = 2 / 5

=> 31,250 x 5 = 2y

=> 2y = 1,56,250

=> y = 78,125

Total childrens :-

=> School-going + school-not going

=> 31,250 + 78,125

=> 1,09,375
