so, number of cats = x + 6

So, the equation formed is -

32 = x + x + 6

32 = 2x + 6

32 - 6 = 2x

26 = 2x

Therefore, number of dogs = x

                                             = 13, and

number of cats = x + 6

                         = 13 + 6

                         = 19
