Solution :

As per the rules of the quiz contest

• 2 points are given for every correct answer.

• -1 point is given for every wrong answer.

Riyaz gets 15 points in the quiz with 9 answers correct.

We need to find how many wrong answers he gave.

Suppose that he gave x wrong answers.

His points : 9 × 2 + x (-1)

But it is 15

So

9×2 - x = 15

18 - x = 15

x = 3

Hence he got 3 answers wrong.

Solution :-

Let the incorrect/wrong answer be x

Correct answer + Wrong answer = 15

2(Correct answer) + [(-1)(wrong answer)] = 15

2(9) + [(-1)x] = 15

18 + [-x] = 15

-x = 15 - 18

-x = -3

x = 3

Hence

He gave 3 incorrect/Wrong answers
