Solution:
Let a = Length of the leap made by horse A
Let b = Length of the leap made by horse B
Then according to the given condition,
9 a = 6 b
b = 9/6 a
b = 3/2 a
b = 1.5 a
which shows that leap of horse B is 1.5 times longer then leap of horse A.
Now when horse A makes 7 leaps and horse B makes 5 leaps then in that time interval,
Distance covered by horse A = 7a
Distance covered by horse B = 5 x 1.5a = 7.5a
Let t₁ be the time required for horse A to cover some distance and t₂ be the time required for horse B to cover same distance. Then,
t₁ / t₂ = 7.5/7
which is the required answer.
Thanks.
