The objects appear nearer in the rear view mirror due to the following reasons :
- Firstly as rear mirror appears to be curved and is bent in the outward direction towards the center.
- As these mirror appear to be curved on the backside they exhibit a wider view of visualizing any angle with better reference.
- Reflected images gets compressed due to wide focal points which makes the object look smaller then they actually are in the reality.
