Step-by-step explanation:

Given: □ABCD is a rectangle.

AB= 8 cm & diagonal (AC)= 17 cm.

To find: Perimeter of a rectangle.

Solution:

In □ ABCD,

Triangle ABC is a right - angled triangle

In which,

Hypotenuse= AC= 17 cm

Base= BC. & Height= 8 cm

. . By pythagoras theorem,

(Hypotenuse)2 = (Base)2 + (Height)2

( AC)2 = ( BC)2. + ( AB)2

(17)2. = ( BC)2. + ( 8)2

289 = ( BC)2. + 64

( BC)2 = 289 - 64

( BC)2 = 225

. . BC. = 15 cm

Permeter of a rectangle = 2 ( l+b )

= 2 ( 15+8 )

= 2 × 23

= 46

. . Perimeter of a rectangle is 46 cm.
