Explanation:

When positive terminal of battery is connected with the N side and negative terminal is connected with the P side then the junction is said to be reversed biased. The positive and negative charges which comes out from the battery increases the width of depletion region. Hence, potential barrier will increase with the width of depletion region. This potential barrier will not allow majority charge carries to flow through depletion region.
