In a row of children, Kamal is sixth from the left and Appu is fourth from the right. When Kamal and Appu exchange positions, Appu becomes seventeenth from the right. Which will be Kamal’s position from the left?
please explain it ​

Let us represent the row initially by

a,b,c,d,e,Kamal,…..,Appu,p,q,r

Kamal is 6th from left. So there are five children to his left.

Appu is 4th from right. So there are three children to his right.

When they exchange positions let us consider Appu’s case

a,b,c,d,e,Appu, 16 children

Appu is 6th from the left and also 17th from the right. This means there are 5 + Appu + 16 = 22 children.

Consider Kamal’s case, Since there are totally 22 children and of them 3 are to his right the remaining have to be to his left which is 22 - Kamal - 3 = 18.

18 children,Kamal,p,q,r

So Kamal’s position from the left is 19th.
