In a running competition conducted by your school,you participated. The circular field has a track length of 700m. You were expected to take 4 rounds of the tracksuch that the line of finish was same as the line of start. Now calculate:-
(a) total distance covered by you ‍♂️
(b) total displacement covered by you‍♀️
(c) your motion during run was uniform or non-uniform
(d) is the distance and displacement travelled by you is same??

Given:

Length of track, L= 700m

Total Rounds to be taken, R= 4

Start line is same as the finish line

To Find:

(a) Total distance covered by us

(b) Total displacement covered by u‍s

(c) Our motion during run was uniform or non-uniform

(d) Is the distance and displacement travelled by us is same

Solution:

According to question,

Distance covered= L × R

Distance covered= 700 × 4

Distance covered= 2800 m

\rule{190}{1}

Now,

Since, after running and reaching to finish line, there is no change in the initial and final position of runner

So, Displacement= 0 m

Because displacement is the distance between initial and final position of the body after motion

\rule{190}{1}

Since, a runner can't run with constant acceleration or can't cover equal distances at equal intervals of time during running

So, our motion is non-uniform motion

Because a non-uniform motion is that motion in which a body covers unequal distances at equal intervals of time

\rule{190}{1}

No, the distance and displacement travelled by us is not same as distance travelled by us is 2800 m and our displacement is 0 m.

QUESTION :-

In a running competition conducted by your school, you participated. The circular field has a track length of 700 m. You were expected to take 4 rounds of the track such that the line of finish was same as the line of start. Now calculate :-

(a) total distance covered by you.

(b) total displacement covered by you‍.

(c) your motion during run was uniform or non-uniform .

(d) is the distance and displacement travelled by you is same.

ANSWER :-

(a) • Length of the circular track = 700 m

• Number of rounds to be completed = 4

We know, distance is the length of the total path travelled from the initial point to the final position.

So, distance travelled = 700 × 4

\Large\dashrightarrow Distance travelled = 2800 m

\rule{230}{2}

(b) It is given that, I was expected to take 4 rounds of the track such that the line of finish was same as the line of start.

Though the path is circular, then the initial position and the final position remain the same.

We know, displacement is the shortest distance between the initial point and the final position.

\Large\dashrightarrow Displacement = 0 m

\rule{230}{2}

(c) A runner(me) cant cover equal distances at equal intervals of time because acceleration of the runner can never be constant.

So, we know, that non-uniform motion is defined as unequal distances covered at equal interval of time.

So, the answer is non-uniform motion.

\rule{230}{2}

(d) The distance covered by me is 2800 m and my displacement is 0 m as calculated above↑).

So, the distance travelled by me is not same as my displacement.
