Step-by-step explanation:

Given  A beam AB of length 5m supported at A and B carries two point load w1 and w2 of 3KN and 5KN which are 1m Apart. It the reaction at B is 2KN more than that at A, find the distance between the support A and the load 3KN

  • Now there is a beam AB
  •  So B = A + 2 (since it carries 2 KN more than A)
  • Also A + B – 3 – 5 = 0
  •   So A + (A + 2) – 3 – 5 = 0
  •   So  2A – 6 = 0
  •        2A = 6
  •      Or A = 6/2
  •       Or A = 3 KN
  • So B = A + 2
  •        = 3 + 2
  •      B = 5 KN
  • Now we have
  •   3m + 5(m + 1) – B(5) = 0
  •    3m + 5m + 5 – 5(5) = 0 (since B = 5)
  •          8m + 5 – 25 = 0
  •         8m – 20 = 0
  •          8m = 20
  •         Or m = 20 / 8
  •         Or m = 2.5 m
