Let the number of girl in school be x

given

3 / 7 students are girls

246 boys in school

to find girl = ?

so here we go we assume 3 /7x girl

x - 3 / 7 x = 246

take lcm 7 = 246

x*7 / 1*7 - 3 /7 x = 246

7x / 7 - 3 / 7x = 246

7x - 3x
_____ = 246
7

4x / 7 = 246

here transpose the 7 to multiply 246

4x = 246 * 7

x = 246 * 7 / 4

x = 430.5

hence total number of student in school is 431 round off

to find number of girl

431 - 246

=185

hence number of girls are 185
