7/12 student are boys in 1176

==> total boys = 7/12*1176

==>7*98 ==>   686

total no. of girls = 1176-686

girls ==> 490

fraction  = 490/1176==> 70/168 ==> 10/24 ==> 5/12

fraction = 5/12

Answer:

Required fraction is  \frac{5}{12}

Step-by-step explanation:

Here given,

In a school \frac{7}{12} of the students are boys .

And number of students are 1176.

This is a problem of Algebra.

Total number of boys =  \frac{7}{12}

of total students

 =  \frac{7}{12}  \times 1176 \\  = 7 \times 98 = 686

Hence total number of boys in the school are 686.

And number of girls = Total number of students - Total number of boys =1176-686=490

So, number of girls are 490.

By Unitary method,

Now 1176 means here total 1 part and 1 means here \frac{1}{1176} part

490 means here  \frac{1}{1176}  \times 490 =  \frac{245}{588}  =  \frac{35}{84}  =  \frac{5}{12}

Required fraction is  \frac{5}{12}
