In a school, 80% of the students were paying fees and others were on scholarships. During the year the school increase the fees. But the school exempted 10% of the fee paying student from paying the increase of the fees. What percentage of the total students are now paying full fees? Please answer step by step and the answer is 72%

full fee paying students

= 90% of ( fee paying students )

= 90% of ( 80% of students)

= 90% × ( 80% × number of students )

= 0.9 × 0.8 × number of students

= 0.72 × number of students

= 72% × number of students

= 72% of students
