In a school there are 900 students. Out of wch 35 percent are girls. If 40 percent of the girls and 60 percent of the boys stay in hostel. Find the number of students staying in hostel

Total number of students = 900
total number of girls :
$\frac{35}{100} \times 900 = 315$
so , total number of boys = 900 - 315 = 585

Now, calculating number of students staying in hostel:
girls :
$\frac{40}{100} \times 315 = 126$
boys :
$\frac{60}{100} \times 585 = 351$
So, total number of students staying in hostel
= 126+351 = 477 students
