Given : a scrabble game, there are small tiles with letters on them that

are used to form words

the number of tiles for each letter.

To Find :  probability of selecting

(a) O from the full set?

(b) Consonant from the full set?

(c) A. M or J from the full set?

(d) Vowel from the full set?

Solution :

Total Tiles = 100

O tiles = 8

Probability O from the full set = 8/100  =  0.08

Vowel from the full set

A , E , I O , U

A = 9 , E = 12 , I = 9 O = 8  U = 4

Total = 9 + 12 + 9 + 8 + 4 = 42

Probability Vowel from the full set = 42/100 = 0.42

Consonant from the full set  =100 - Vowels - Blank

= 100 - 42 - 2

= 56

Probability Consonant from the full set = 56/100 = 0.56

A = 9 M = 2 J = 1

9 + 2 + 1 = 12

Probability A. M or J from the full set = 12/100 = 0.12
