In a semiconductor, it is found that three quarter of current is being carried by electron and one quarter by holes. If at this temperature the drift speed of the electron is two and half times that of holes, determine the ratio of electrons to holes present

Current Density due to holes= nh a Vh

Je/Jh=[ ne/nh ]x [ve/ Vh]

3/4/1/4 = ne/nh x 5/2

∴ne/nh= 3x4x2/4x5

ne/nh=6/5

∴The ratio of electrons to holes present is 6:5
