Element such as resistors . capacitors and inductor:
Explanation:
- Capacitor or capacitor is a major component of two ends used in electric circuit. If two or more conductors are kept close apart by an insulating medium, then this arrangement is called capacitor.
- These conductors have equal and opposite charges. If a capacitor is connected to a battery, no current will flow through it, but an equal amount of positive and negative charges will accumulate on its plates.
- Electric capacitors are used to store electric charge, or static electric energy, and in electric filters, snubbers (power electronics), etc.
- A capacitor consists of two metal plates, the space between which is filled with a non-conducting dielectric material (such as paper, polyethylene, mica, etc.).
- Current flows between the plates of a capacitor only when the potential difference between its two plates changes with time. Because of this, no current flows through the capacitor at steady state when a constant DC potential difference is applied.
- But on applying alternating potential difference between the two ends of the capacitor, the charge stored on its plates keeps increasing or decreasing due to which current flows in the external circuit. DC current cannot flow through the capacitor.
