Time taken by the boat to go from C to A is 7 hrs 45 mins.

Given:

In a stream, B lies in between A and C such that it is an equal distance from both A and C

A boat can go from A to B and back in 6 hours and 30 mins while it goes from A to C in 9 hours

To find:

How long would it take to go from C to A

Solution:

Given that

B lies between A and C, it is at an equal distance from both A and C

A boat can go from A to B and back in 6 hours and 30 mins

Here 6 hrs 30 mins = 6 × 60 + 30 mins = 390 mins  [∵ 1 hr = 60 mins ]

The time taken by the boat to go from A to B = 390/2 = 195 mins

The same boat can go from A to C = 9 hrs

Here 9 hrs = 9 × 60 mins = 540 mins

The time taken by the boat to go from B to C = 540/2 = 270 mins

Time taken to travel from C to A

= Time to travel from C to B + Time to travel from B to A

= 195 mins + 270 mins

= 3 hrs + 15 mins + 4 hrs + 30 mins  [ Changing mins to hrs ]

= 7 hrs 45 mins

Therefore,

Time taken by the boat to go from C to A is 7 hrs 45 mins.
