In a tug of war why does a team fall backwards when the opposite team releases the rope suddenly?

We know that as per Newton's III Law, the action and reaction forces act in the opposite direction.Now, when A and B are two opposite forces (Tug of war) and as force of A is greater than B, the rope shall break at a point near to A because tension created in the rope nearer to is more.
