In a violent storm, a tree got bent by the wind. The top of the tree meeta the ground at an angle of 30°, at a distance of 30m from the root. At what height from the bottom did the tree got bent? What was the original height of the tree?

Let the height from the bottom to the bent portion be  h

NOW,

 \tan(30) = \frac{h}{30}

 = > \: \frac{1}{ \sqrt{3} } = \frac{h}{30}

So,

h \: = \: \frac{30}{ \sqrt{3} } m \: ...........ans \:( 1 )

Now

total \: height \: = \: h \: + \: 30

 = \: \frac{30}{ \sqrt{3} } + 30

 = > \: \frac{30 \: + \: 30 \sqrt{3} }{ \sqrt{3} }

 = > \: 69.49m........( \sqrt{3} = 1.732)
