Perhaps there is some typing mistake in the given question ..

   y = a Sin (k x - ω t)  
       a = Amplitude
       k = wave number
       y = displacement of a particle at distance x from source of wave
            (along the direction of the propagation) in the medium at time t
       ω = angular frequency of the wave
       t = time instant


    This wave equation represents Electric field, magnetic field in Electromagnetic waves.  The wave equation above represents displacement.  Further it represents the excess pressure in pressure waves also.

  The wave equation above represents all above physical quantities.
