in ∆ABC, AB=10,∆AC=7,BC=9 then find the length of the median drawn from point C to side AB.

We have to find the length of CD

AD = BD = \frac{AB}{2} = \frac{10}{2}  = 5

Consider the triangle BDC and applying pythagorus theoram.

CD = \sqrt{BC^{2} - BD^{2} }

CD = \sqrt{9^{2}-5^{2}  }    = \sqrt{81 - 25}

CD = √56

Hence the length of median is √56 .
