In activity 2.3 on page 19 ( NCERT Science textbook for class 10 ) ,why bubbles filled with hydrogen are formed instead of reacting with the soap solution ?

It doesn't react with the soap solution. Why do we use soap solution here ? So that we can clearly observe that a gas is formed. That's it! How do we check which gas is formed ? By it's property. Here, the gas produces pop sound when burning matchstisk is brought near it. This shows that its a Hydrogen gas.
