Answer:

The answer to the question-'In 'After 20 Years', why is Bob called 'Silky Bob'?" is-

Bob was called Silky Bob since the police had no other name to give him.

Explanation:

'Silky Bob' was given the name by the police - the police gave him this name. Since they had no other name which was given. So, they called Bob "Silky Bob".

If the wire from Chicago had contained Bob's real last name , then Jimmy would know in advance that his old friend was the wanted criminal..

In this chapter-" After 20 Years",

“Silky” Bob has been a wanted man in the city of Chicago as he  robbed the Chicago Bank, since May 15, 1939.

One night  on August 24, 1945 “Silky” Bob was caught. He had came back to visit a long time friend because they said they would meet back in twenty years.

Jimmy here continued to talk to Bob for a while because he, as a friend wanted to keep his promise of meeting him. Although Jimmy had the warrant and authority to arrest Bob, yet he didn't do it.
