The packet of chips are flushed with only  nitrogen gas .This is because nitrogen is a antioxidant. It prevents the chips from being oxidised. If we flush the packets of chips with oxygen,then the chips react with oxygen and becomes rancid and the smell and taste of food change.

Explanation:

Nitrogen is filled in packet of eatables so that is does not rot. this is because it starts to decay when it comes in contact with oxygen. nitrogen is filled as it prevents contact with oxygen leaving it crisp till the bag is opened.
