Answer __-The animal body undergoes rapid and dramatic changes during amphibian (anuran) metamorphosis to adapt from the aquatic to the terrestrial life. The larva-specific organs such as the tail and the gill degenerate, while the adult-specific organs such as forelimbs develop.

Changes noticed during metamorphosis in amphibians:

The changes occurring during metamorphosis in amphibians are classified into the three stages namely,

  • Premetamorphic stage: The stage is portrayed by the considerable development and improvement of larval structures yet transformation does not happen.
  • Prometamorphosis: The stage is portrayed by the continuous development exceptionally the improvement of appendages and inception of transformative changes.
  • Metamorphic climax: The stage is portrayed by the extreme changes in the highlights of the hatchling, and peak is considered by the loss of most larval highlights.
