Given:

a_n = 3n + 2

We have to find, the 12th term of an A.P. (a_{12}) = ?

Solution:

a_n = 3n + 2

Put n = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 ......., n

The 1st term of an A.P. ,

a_{1} = 3(1) + 2

= 3 + 2 = 5

The 2nd term of an A.P. ,

a_{2} = 3(2) + 2

= 6 + 2 = 8

.........

The 12th term of an A.P. ,

a_{12} = 3(12) + 2

= 36 + 2 = 38

∴ The 12th term of an A.P. (a_{12}) = 38

Thus, the 12th term of an A.P. (a_{12}) = 38
