common difference = 43

Step-by-step explanation:

given data

Sn = 210

Sn+1 = 253

to find out

common difference

solution

we know that in arithmetic progression the difference between the successive term and preceding term is always same

so here two successive terms is given Sn and Sn + 1

so their difference will be common difference

common difference = Sn+1 - Sn  ....................1

common difference =  253  - 210

common difference = 43

43

Step-by-step explanation:

S_n = a + (n - 1)d

a + (n - 1)d  = 210

a + nd – d = 210 ......... (i)

S_n+1 = a + (n +1- 1)d = 253

 a + nd = 253

a = 253 – nd ...... (ii)

Put (ii) in (i) we get

253 –nd + nd –d = 210

-d = 210 – 253

-d = - 43

d = 43

Common difference is 43.
