given that,

→ an = 4n - 5 (nth term of AP)

putting n = 1,

→ a1 = 4 * 1 - 5

→ a1 = 4 - 5

→ a1 = (-1)

putting n = 2,

→ a2 = 4 * 2 - 5

→ a2 = 8 - 5

→ a2 = 3 .

then , second term of the arithmetic progression will be 3. (Option C) .
