2/100 × x = 487
x = ( 487 × 2 ) /100
x = 24350
Therefore ,
Total votes = x = 24350
Number of votes A secured = 9740
Percentage of votes A secured
= ( 9740/ 24350 ) × 100
= 40%
Percentage of votes B secured
= 100 - A votes% - invalid votes %
= 100 - 40 - 2
= 100 - 42
= 58%
