In an election,the winning candidate received 31488 votes which represented 48% of the electorate.The only other candidate received votes which formed 22% of the electorate.calculate a) the number of electorate and b) the number of people who did not oast their vote.

If the total number of votes = x;
Winning candidate received 48% of x = 31488;
 48*x  = 31488 ;   x = 65,600 = Total number of votes
 100
winning candidate = 48% , only other candidate = 22%
70% of total votes were polled.
Remaining 30% of 65,600 = 19680 = Uncasted votes
